Results: GEMS 2014 Trustee Election

The GEMS 2014 Trustee Election was conducted from 18 February 2014 to 20 June 2014 and 70 candidates stood in the election. The election process was concluded on 9 July 2014 when the Board of Trustees received the election report from The Elexions Agency and a report from the auditors, the PricewaterhouseCoopers Rakoma Consortium.

The names of the trustees who have been elected by members to serve on the Board for a term of six years are:

A. Dr Josef Adriaan (Jopie) Breed;
B. Mr Jan Stephanus (Steve) Roux (re-elected); and
C. Dr Isak Jacobus (Kobus) Van Zyl. 

Phase II: The Voting Phase: 21 April to 20 June 2014

The voting process started on 21 April 2014 and closed on 20 June 2014 at 17h00.

Please note: Carefully read and follow the Voting Rules and Procedures. You may only vote by choosing one of the following options:

Option 1: Postal ballot 
Vote using the Ballot Paper, received via email or post and return the marked paper using the enclosed self-addressed and postage paid return envelope (Ballot Envelope with Unique Ballot Paper number) which is included in your voting pack.

Ballot papers may also be returned via:

- Depositing your ballot paper in the ballot box in one of the GEMS Walk-in Centres;
- Emailing your scanned ballot paper to elections@gems.gov.za;
- Faxing to 0866 756 551; or
- Hand delivery to The Elexions Agency, 19 Jan Smuts Avenue, Parktown, 2196.

Option 2: Electronic ballot
SMS: Vote using your cellphone by SMSing the required information to 30715 (at no cost); or
Email: Web based voting by clicking on the link appearing in your emailed letter sent to members with email addresses.

Option 3: On-site ballot
By visiting voting stations at any of the eighteen (18) GEMS Walk-In Centres around the country.

Phase I: The Nomination of Candidates: 18 February to 18 March 2014

The 2014 Trustee Election's nomination period opened on 18 February and closed on 18 March 2014.
