Designated Service Providers

Designated service providers are healthcare providers or groups selected by GEMS as the preferred providers (DSPs) to provide a service to its members.

Currently GEMS makes use of the following DSPs:

1. State hospitals

The State is GEMS's designated service provider for the treatment of Prescribed Minimum Benefits.

Click here to find the provincial hospitals.

2. GEMS network of healthcare providers

The Sapphire and Beryl options offer members comprehensive benefits through a Network of
Healthcare service providers.

3.Chronic medicine DSPs

GEMS has appointed Designated Service Providers (DSPs) for members needing to obtain their authorised chronic medicines.
From the beginning of 2013, the DSPs responsible for the these services are:

  • The Chronic Medicine Courier Pharmacy (Medipost)
  • Contracted pharmacies in the Chronic Medicine Pharmacy Network.

These pharmacies are referred to as the GEMS Chronic Medicine DSPs.  You will be registered by GEMS with either the Courier Pharmacy (Medipost) or with one of the pharmacies on the Chronic Medicine Pharmacy Network. You should obtain your chronic medicine from that pharmacy.

To find out more please read the 2013 Chronic Medicine Booklet

If you cannot find a DSP/Network provider in your area, please phone 0860 00 4367 and follow the voice prompts.
