Designated service providers are healthcare providers or groups selected by GEMS as the preferred providers (DSPs) to provide a service to its members.
Currently GEMS makes use of the following DSPs:
1. State hospitals
The State is GEMS's designated service provider for the treatment of Prescribed Minimum Benefits.

2. GEMS network of healthcare providers
The Sapphire and Beryl options offer members comprehensive benefits through a Network of
Healthcare service providers.
3.Chronic medicine DSPs
GEMS has appointed Designated Service Providers (DSPs) for members needing to obtain their authorised chronic medicines.
From the beginning of 2013, the DSPs responsible for the these services are:
These pharmacies are referred to as the GEMS Chronic Medicine DSPs. You will be registered by GEMS with either the Courier Pharmacy (Medipost) or with one of the pharmacies on the Chronic Medicine Pharmacy Network. You should obtain your chronic medicine from that pharmacy.
