Why join the GEMS network?

GEMS is committed to providing equitable access to excellent healthcare at an affordable rate.  If you join the GEMS network, you will enjoy access to Scheme growing membership. The GEMS network is showcased on the Scheme platforms which will give you (as a healthcare provider) access to patients within our network.

Key features of the GEMS network

•  GEMS members on the Tanzanite One, Beryl and EVO options are limited to healthcare providers in our network.  Members on Tanzanite One and EVO options must consult a nominated family practitioner (FP) to coordinate their healthcare needs. Nominations can be made by contacting the GEMS call centre on 0860 00 4367.
• Members are guided to our network healthcare providers: Constant communication is shared with members and we encourage them to use the healthcare providers within the network (as a way of optimising their benefits).
• Specialist referral management: Members are required and encouraged to consult their network GP before they can be referred to a specialist. An authorisation can be obtained by calling GEMS on 0860 436 777.
• Peer consultation: GEMS is committed to consulting with professional leadership structures in our network to understand the issues faced by our healthcare service providers.
• Participating FPs treating the members Tanzanite One and Beryl options will be paid according to a tiered reimbursement structure for consultations and treatment. Enhanced fees: Network FPs are profiled based on practice profile and member outcomes and the healthcare providers that achieve category 1 status will receive an enhanced performance fee (GP management fee) in addition to their normal consultation fee (terms and conditions apply).
