2025 GEMS Trustee Elections

 

The Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS) Board of Trustees has appointed The Elexions Agency (Pty) Ltd to administer the 2025 Board of Trustee elections. The process is scheduled to run between May and September 2025.  The election process has three phases to it:

  1. Phase 1: The Awareness and Candidate Nomination phase closed on Monday, 09 June 2025. Members were given the opportunity to nominate candidates of their choice. 
  2. Phase 2: The Voting phase. Members are provided the opportunity to vote for up to three candidates of their choice from 07 July to 06 September 2025. 
  3. Phase 3:The Counting and Results phase in the presence of observers and auditors. 

Voting is now open and will close 12h00, 6 September 2025!

You may vote electronically via the website or USSD. For the USSD option, dial *134*7777#  from your cellphone and follow the prompts. All members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the candidate biographies and know the candidate numbers of the members they wish to vote for before voting via USSD.  Please note: Only GEMS registered mobile numbers will be able to access the USSD string.

Important! Do not share your unique ballot number with anyone as it is your key to accessing the voting platforms. Your unique ballot number will be emailed and sent via SMS directly to you. 

In order to vote online, please click here to authenticate yourself as a principal member by entering your GEMS membership number, ID number and Unique Ballot Paper number.

  • Click here to access the CV Booklet. Once you have been authenticated, you will have the option to study the CV Booklet. 
  • Click here to access the Voting Instructions and vote for up to three (3) candidates of your choice.  Please note that your vote cannot be changed once you have submitted it. 

Remember:

  • You can only vote once. Once you have submitted your vote, you cannot make any changes.
  • If you vote online via the link received by email, your USSD and manual ballot paper votes will not count, and vice versa.
  • You have until 12h00 midday on 06 September 2025 to cast your vote online.

Manual Voting

Manual voting will be available at voting stations to be set up at the eighteen (18) GEMS Provincial Walk-in Centres from 18 to 30 August 2025 at midday. Members with postal ballots may deposit their duly completed ballot papers into the ballot boxes placed at the Walk-in Centres or via a pre-paid Business Reply Envelope accompanying the ballot paper.  You have until 30 August 2025, midday, to do so.
